OBEDIENCE TRAINING

Obedience is NOT simply training a dog to mindlessly obey the commands that are given. Yes, obedience training, when properly done, does elicit prompt and dependable responses from the canine, but it also instills confidence, removes fear and confusion, teaches impulse control, corrects many behavioral problems, and also sets the foundation of ‘right relationship’ between the owner and canine. This creates a natural pack structure, establishing the owner in their appropriate place as leader, to open a line of communication that the canine is easily able to understand and readily obey.

DELIVERANCE K-9 PUPPY FORMATION

Bringing a new puppy home is a wonderful and exciting time. They come with joy and laughter as they trample around the house with their clumsy and erratic behaviors. Soon that excitement and laughter can transform into frustration and (figurative and at times literal) tears. As the newness gives way to all the hard work that is required with interrupted sleep, late nights and early mornings while potty training, coupled with having to constantly monitor the puppy, stopping it from chewing on and destroying things, biting things it should not, cleaning up after it, etc., can make even the best of us question our decision in bringing the puppy home, and (if we’re being honest with ourselves) even regret our choosing to do so. But after a few minutes, or after the puppy does something cute or makes us laugh again, our emotions subside, and we are once again glad about our decision to get our new puppy. We must remind ourselves that the puppy phase is just that, a phase that will pass with time.

The DELIVERANCE K-9 PUPPY FORMATION PROGRAM is designed specifically to give the necessary education, skills, and support that the puppy’s owner needs to get through this phase, as well as the establishment of the vital foundation for the puppy’s development to understand and properly behave in its new environment.

DELIVERANCE K-9 BOARD AND TRAIN

While your dog is here for Board and Train, I have a very specific and structured routine. This routine consists of multiple training sessions (for both obedience and behavioral modification), as well as supervised exercise, play and walks.

The scheduled down time, between activities, also serves purpose. The time spent in kennel not only provides necessary rest, but it also teaches the dog to settle, entertain itself (chew toys provided), and to become comfortable being alone.

Having your dog on-site removes it from its current environment and old habits and places it in a neutral territory (so to speak). The structured schedule is designed to “reboot” the dog by placing it in right relationship with the trainer as lead (learning all good things come from the lead, such as food water, rewards, free time and play), as well as giving it the boundaries and consistent routine that canines thrive in. It is the foundation that not only trust, confidence and reliability are built on, but it also produces a happy and content dog to be its best self!

*Weekly communication to touch base on the progress made via email.

*ALL training equipment required for training and the ability for the owner to implement and maintain what their four-legged companion has learned after returning home is included in the Board and Train package price.

*Some extreme behavior issues may have to be addressed before formal training begins, therefore there will be additional fees for the extra time necessary to counter-condition.

Included in the Board and Train Service, on the day of pick up after the training is complete, there is an in-person owner education, and hands-on instruction and demonstration session. I will offer ALL the time necessary to answer any questions and clarify anything that is not fully understood. This support continues after the session, I will be available to help, whether by phone, email or even a scheduled in-person session. My goal is to fully educate and instruct the owner to have the confidence in leading their dog successfully once it has completed its training and has returned home.

DELIVERANCE K-9 BEHAVIORAL MODIFICATION

Canine behavioral modification is a complex topic. These problematic, and at times dangerous behaviors and reactions come from a wide range of sources. The reasons can stem from genetics and irresponsible breeding, traumas, inadequate exercise and stimulation, lack of impulse control or clear boundaries that are not consistently enforced, praising and rewarding behaviors while they are  puppies that are cute or funny that later turn troublesome, negative reinforcement that is mistaken as a correction to only heighten the issue; to name a few examples.

As complicated as the cause for problematic behaviors can be, the complexities continue into the diagnosis and treatment of the underlying issue. Often the root cause is misidentified by the untrained eye. An example of this is one can be convinced that a canine’s bad behavior is due to dominance aggression or being overly protective, when in fact its aggression is due to fear. As with other issues, many of the symptoms have commonalities.  With these shared symptoms, one can easily miss subtle signals. With these missed signals come misdiagnosis, leading to improper treatment.

Here at DELIVERANCE K-9, I have the capability to correctly diagnose the root issue, to ensure that the appropriate treatment is utilized.

In Home Behavioral Modification $50 at Client’s Home (in the area) or $60 per session at Clients Home that requires 15 minutes or more of travel (one way) This option is offered after the completion of DELIVERANCE K-9 Basic On Leash or Advanced Complete Off Leash Obedience Training.
